Movie Maker: Music overlap - does that work?
If you want to overlap two songs in Movie Maker, you have a problem: This is not possible with the freeware tool. But we will show you which trick you can use instead.
Option 1: Overlap music in the Movie Maker
- First, just add the first audio file to your Movie Maker project.
- If you click on the song in Movie Maker, you can make further settings via "Music Tools".
- If the music from one song is to be faded into the next, enter the start time of the new song as the end time.
- If both audio files are to run in parallel, for example different sounds, you do not have to set an end time.
- Now export the video and then import it again. It then contains the first song as video sound and you can insert the second song anywhere.
Option 2: overlap music
- You can cut the music for your video much more precisely with the free tool Audacity.
- To do this, insert both audio files in Audacity and position the songs according to your video. You can use the time code from Movie Maker for this.
- Then export the music file as MP3 or Wave and paste it into Movie Maker.
We show you exactly how to proceed in Audacity in an Audacity tutorial and in our picture gallery.
