Movie Maker: export video as MP4 - does that work?
If you want to export your videos from Movie Maker into the handy MP4 format, you only come across WMV or MPEG4. We will tell you how you can also save the film in MP4 via detours.
Save video from Movie Maker as MP4?
- In older versions of the Movie Maker, you can only export your videos as WMV (Windows Media Video). The current version of the Windows Movie Maker, on the other hand, only offers MPEG-4.
- However, MPEG-4 and MP4 are by no means the same: MP4 is a container file that contains, for example, an MPEG-4 video as the video track and an MP3 track for the sound.
- If you want to have an MP4 video, you must first export the film and then convert it again.
Convert Movie Maker video to MP4
- You must first export your video via "Save film"> "For high-resolution display". You can also reduce the resolution by using the export settings for "Feature Phone".
- You can now open the finished film in the free "FormatFactory" tool using drag & drop.
- Now all possible formats appear, including "MP4". Click on the MP4 format and confirm with "OK.
- You can add more video files in the same way. The conversion starts as soon as you click on "Start".
Video tip: By rotating quickly at 90 degree intervals, extraordinary effects can be created. However, the intervals may only be about half a second.
