Mozilla Firefox: the best shortcuts
Clever keyboard shortcuts make your work with Mozilla Firefox easier. One of the most popular shortcuts is [F5] to reload a website. In this practical tip, we will tell you what other tricks there are.
Mozilla Firefox: the top five shortcuts
- [Ctrl] + [D]: With this key combination you automatically set a bookmark. Of course, you can still name it individually.
- [Ctrl] + [J]: This opens the Firefox download history. From here you can also open all downloaded files directly.
- [Ctrl] + [1] to [8]: If you press this combination, Firefox jumps to the first tab or at + [2] to the second tab. This works until + [8]. The last tab is shown at + [9].
- [Ctrl] + [T]: This shortcut opens a new tab. [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [T] lets you open the last closed tab again.
- [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [P]: This key combination deactivates and activates the "private mode". It allows you to surf the Internet without Firefox logging it on your computer.
Standard keyboard shortcuts also worked with Firefox
In addition to the Firefox-specific shortcuts, you can also use many standard key combinations (e.g. from Word). Here is a small selection:
- [Ctrl] + [C] / + [V]: Copy or paste
- [Ctrl] + [A]: Select everything
- [Alt] + [F4]: Closes the window that is currently open
- [Ctrl] + [+]: Zoom in, [Ctrl] + [-]: Zoom out
- [Ctrl] + [0]: Reset the page view to 100 percent
- [Ctrl] + [F]: Search the website for a key term
- [Ctrl] + [N]: Open new window
