To listen to your own music on your iPhone, iPad or iPod, you must first transfer it to the corresponding device via iTunes. We'll show you how it works.
Load music on iPhone, iPod and iPad
In order to listen to songs via the pre-installed music app on your iPhone, you have to buy them via the iTunes app or transfer them from your PC to your iPhone. Here's how the latter works:
- Connect your iPhone to your computer with a USB cable and start iTunes.
- Now select the desired songs from your music library by marking them. If you want to mark several songs at the same time, hold down the "Ctrl" key while selecting. If you want to mark a sequence of songs, click on the first one, hold down the Shift key and mark the last one.
- Once you have made a selection, drag the songs towards the right edge of the screen.
- A window opens on the right, where you can see your iPhone (see picture). If you now slide the songs onto this button, all playlists that have already been created will also be displayed.
- Now drag your music either directly onto the device icon or into a playlist. Your music will then be transferred to your iPhone. The whole thing works in the same way with an iPad or iPod.
Expert tip: Get the best music quality out of the iPhone
If you listen to a lot of music with your iPhone, you not only need great headphones, but also a smartphone with a strong sound.
- But especially with older generations of iPhone the speaker turns out tinny and the audio output via headphones could be better and above all louder.
- So if you want to get the most out of your Apple device, you should use a current iPhone. You get the iPhone 6 in the best configuration with 128 GB of memory from around 800 euros, the larger iPhone 6S from around 1, 000 euros.
