Insert music in PowerPoint presentations - how it works
You can loosen up your PowerPoint presentations and make them more interesting by inserting media such as music. We'll show you how it's done.
How to insert music into your own PowerPoint presentation
You can insert songs quickly and easily via the menu. It works like this:
- Click on "Insert" in the menu bar.
- Go to "Audio" and select "Audio from file ...".
- Search for the desired music file and confirm with "Paste".
Play music in the PowerPoint presentation
If the song should only be played at one point, simply click the play button during the lecture. You can also use the "Animations" menu item to play the music immediately when the slide is selected. If you want to let the song run during the entire presentation, there is also a setting for this:
- First select the inserted song in the slide.
- Now click on "Play" in the menu bar.
- Under "Start" in the "Audio Options" area you can now select "Cross-slide playback". This will not interrupt the song if you switch to a different slide.
- To repeat the music endlessly after the song has ended, select the item "Loop playback".
The tip refers to PowerPoint 2010. For other versions, the process can vary slightly. Powerpoint supports the common music formats MP3, WAV and WMA and can also play the music from MP4 files. Here you can see how to insert a video into a PowerPoint presentation.
