Messages in Mavericks: Set up Apple ID as an AIM account
With the messaging app in Mac OS X Mavericks, you can use the chat protocol AIM via your Apple ID account in addition to iCloud chat. We show you how this works in this practical tip.
Set up Apple ID as an AIM account
- Open the Messages app on your Mac.
- Click on "Messages" -> "Settings" in the menu bar and then switch to the "Accounts" tab.
- Click the "+" at the bottom left to add an account. In the window that appears, select "Other email account".
- Set the account type to "AIM", enter your iCloud login details and click "Create".
