Night mode on Kindle - is there?
The night mode on the smartphone is easy on the eyes and makes falling asleep easier. In this practical tip, we clarify whether it is also available on Kindle.
Kindle Night Mode: Why Night Mode?
If you take a longer look at the smartphone display before sleeping, you can often not sleep well.
- Because the blue light, which is essential for true-color displays on the smartphone display, signals the eyes that it is day. There is predominantly bluish light in the sunlight, so the biorhythm simply adapts this assumption as a result.
- That is also why a blue light filter is recommended if you use your smartphone in the evening.
- In the meantime, many current smartphones have integrated such a night mode from the start.
- Apps are also available that activate such a blue light filter, such as "Twilight Pro".
- As a result of the blue light filtering, there is a red cast in the picture that you quickly get used to.
Night mode on Kindle - is there?
There are big differences between smartphone displays and the display of the Kindles: Because smartphone displays have an LCD, AMOLED or IPS display, but the Kindle uses an e-ink display. This is not able to display colors anyway. Therefore, there is no night mode on Kindle.
- Because of the lack of colors and low brightness, e-ink displays are already very easy on the eyes.
- The first generations of Kindle were not even equipped with backlighting, because e-ink displays do not necessarily need it. The words were therefore difficult to read in the dark. That's why the Kindles now have a backlight.
- Automatic brightness control is now also on board. If the e-ink display is still too bright for you, you can tap the upper end of the display to control the brightness manually.
- Then select the quick action icon and then slide your finger on the scale to adjust the brightness.
