Napster: remove DRM protection - is that possible?
Napster audio files are DRM protected. You may not remove this immediately, but in the jurisprudence the so-called "analog gap" represents a possibility to copy works without violating the copyright.
How to get rid of Napster DRM protection
There are many ways to remove DRM protection from Napster music. The problem with this is that you're probably violating the license agreement you have with Napster:
- Napster has been a lagal music streaming service for many years.
- In addition to streaming, you can also download the music for offline use and keep it until the subscription is canceled.
- This music is then protected by DRM. In a practical tip, we will show you how to convert DRM-protected music or convert Napster music files to another format using iTunes.
- Bypassing copy protection is not permitted; even for your own use you may not bypass it. Not even if you purchased the work for life and beyond.
- Using the so-called "analog gap" is less tricky than cracking copy protection: If you make an analog recording instead of a digital copy, for example according to our instructions, this action is free of punishment.
- With this method, you do not violate copyright law, but you are probably violating the license agreement with Napster, which prohibits under point 1 paragraph (xi) to copy the application or the service distributed via it. You have not acquired the music, but only a right of use for the duration of the contract.
Incidentally, copyright law also affects images on the Internet and YouTube videos. Free music downloads in the PlayStore, at LastFM and from other websites are possible according to the instructions in our practical tips.
