Facial scar care - you should know that
Targeted scar care is particularly important on the face. In this article, we explain how to properly care for the skin after injuries.
Scar care on the face - so you reduce visibility
The skin on the face has a major advantage over other parts of the body: Here a wound usually heals more easily than, for example, on the décolleté or arm.
- How effective scar care is depends on the type of injury. Pimple scars on the cheek are quite persistent.
- With scar care after scratches or facial operations, you should definitely wait until the wound is completely closed.
- The key to scar care is skin massage. Massage the closed wound with your finger, this promotes blood flow to the damaged tissue. Nutrients are better supplied and breakdown products can be removed.
- The massage also keeps the tissue supple. It is best to massage in special scar creams. Creams with panthenol or allantoin are helpful.
- Scar care also includes protecting the affected skin area from the sun's rays - and for quite a long time. It can take up to two years for a scar to heal.
- By the way, there are no measures that you can take yourself to prevent so-called keloids. These are bulky, thickened scars. A predisposition is responsible for the formation of such bulges. Only going to the dermatologist helps here.
