Blow your nose or pull it up? This question has already been answered for all of us, in our upbringing. Now there are opinions that prefer pulling up. We have researched for you whether we were perhaps all brought up "wrong".
Pull your nose up - not dangerous, but disgusting
In other cultures, lifting your nose is not a problem.
- With us, raising the nose counts as rough and badly brought up. After all, children are taught early on to blow their noses when they run.
- Raising the nose - and then swallowing the mucus - is not a health risk.
- Pathogens in the mucus are effectively killed by the stomach acid.
Wiping your nose is better - but then it's right
- Most people blow their noses wrong. This can be dangerous since pathogens can easily get stuck in the sinuses if they are blown into it.
