Drifting in Need for Speed Payback: 5 tips to master the streets
Drifting is an essential part of winning races in Need for Speed Payback. Some courses are so entwined or with sharp curves that drifting is not just a tool, but a necessity. The following five tips will help you tackle even the most difficult races in style:
- Briefly apply the normal foot brake as soon as you drift into a curve. This way you keep your momentum and can accelerate again on the short straights.
- You should never "spam" boosters when drifting. Boosters help you out of a hot spot or if you lose too much speed in a drift. Use boosts specifically and at the right moment for an effective speed boost.
- To get more points when drifting, you have to link several successful drifts together. This will increase the multiplier.
- Use the live tunings in Need for Speed Payback. These are activated with the lower directional pad and allow numerous drift settings. This includes the weight distribution of the vehicle or the drift angle.
- Never use the handbrake to drift. This stops your vehicle too abruptly and steals important momentum from you. The handbrake is ideal for 180-degree turns during a chase.
