Fix Netflix error 10013 - so it'll work
Netflix error messages appear every now and then, without the reason being understandable. This practical tip shows you how to fix error 10013.
Netflix error 10013 - cause
The Netflix error with error number 10013 occurs in connection with the temporary download of individual episodes or films for offline use, combined with the message "There was a problem with this download".
- Typically, the reason is that the Netflix servers noticed access using VPN or a proxy server.
- Due to the regionally dependent offer of Netflix, use via such a third-party server does not work - after all, they are often used to simulate the access of a website from another country or continent.
- In the case of Netflix, that would mean that you can also watch films in Germany that are actually only approved for America.
- Another problem can be the use of an IPv6 connection, since Netflix only provides native support, but not for tunnel protocols that operate IPv6 over IPv4 networks.
Fix Netflix error 10013
In principle, the rectification of the error results from its cause: Simply deactivate all proxy servers, VPNs or other comparable software.
- Netflix recommends that the network settings of each device be set to "Automatic".
- Of course, that doesn't mean that you can no longer use your VPN or proxy server, but Netflix makes no distinction in terms of why it is used.
- Therefore, even if the VPN is otherwise used to protect privacy, you should temporarily deactivate such services in order to use Netflix.
- If you actually use such a tunnel protocol - as described above - you can change the corresponding setting in the user interface of your router so that either IPv6 or IPv4 is used natively.
- If you observe and implement this information, you will soon no longer receive error message 10013.
