If you want to stream films and series on Netflix in 4K resolution, this is only possible under certain conditions. We show you how it works.
Streaming Netflix in 4K: the costs and requirements for UHD
Read in the following points how you can stream films and series in 4K resolution on Netflix. You will find out what the corresponding Netflix subscription costs and what other requirements still exist.
- For 4K streaming, you need the right Netflix subscription. You can stream up to four devices simultaneously and in UHD (4K) for EUR 15.99 per month.
- To do this, however, you need a fairly fast internet line. Netflix requires at least a connection with 25 Mbit / s so that the streaming in 4K runs smoothly. If the speed is insufficient, the system switches to HD. It is best to check the speed of your internet in advance.
- If you have completed the subscription, you must also adjust the quality in the settings. To do this, select the "High" option in the playback settings (see screenshot).
- Note that not all titles are available in 4K. Especially slightly older series were shot in HD quality, even if they are only a few years old.
Netflix: is your TV suitable for 4K streaming?
Here's how to find out if your TV is capable of playing 4K content.
- So that Netflix can also stream in 4K, your television or BluRay player must also support Netflix in 4K. This is only the case if Netflix is already preinstalled on the respective device.
- If you use Netflix via external devices such as a laptop, the Fire TV or Apple TV, you can use the Netflix app or website here, but this is not possible in 4K.
- You can easily test whether your TV or Blu-Ray player supports Netflix in 4K: If you subscribe to 4K, you will see all 4K content in the first row after starting the app. Alternatively, you can check availability on the following Netflix website.
- Of course, your TV must also be able to display films or series in UHD.
