Use Netflix on Ubuntu - so it'll work
Netflix not only works on Windows and Mac OS, but can also be used with Linux Ubuntu. We show you how it works.
Ubuntu: Use Netflix with Chrome
- As a browser you need Google Chrome, at least version 38. Either download the latest version of Google Chrome or enter the following command for the update in the terminal: "sudo apt-get upgrade google-chrome-stable".
- A current NSS library (Network Security Services) is also required. This must be at least version 3.16.2. available. As early as 2014, many versions of Ubuntu and Netflix received a corresponding update.
- If this is not the case, you can push the update of the libraries manually. To do this, use the following commands in the terminal: "sudo apt-get update" and "sudo apt-get upgrade".
- Now Netflix should already be running on Ubuntu. If this is not the case, read on in the next paragraph.
Solution: Netflix does not run on Ubuntu
- If certain Pipelight Packages are installed, this can hinder Netflix. With the command "sudo apt-get remove --purge pipelight pipelight-multi" they are uninstalled.
- If that doesn't help either, click on your name in the top right corner of Netflix and select "Your account". In the "Playback Settings" you can now activate HTML5 instead of Silverlight.
