It's easy to set up your Netgear repeater. We will show you briefly how this works and what you have to pay attention to.
How to connect the repeater
The Netgear WN3000RP is a WLAN repeater. This allows you to increase your WiFi range and expand your home WiFi. You can also connect a wired device to the repeater. This is ideal, for example, for a game console or a desktop PC. Proceed as follows to set up:
- Connect the repeater to a socket near the router.
- Wait approx. 2 minutes until the repeater has started.
- The WPS method is recommended for simple connection setup: Therefore, press the WPS button on the repeater.
- Then press the WPS button on your router.
- When the connection has been successfully established, the WPS LED on the repeater lights up continuously.
- You can now use the repeater at the desired location. However, make sure that the repeater is not too far from the router.
- Tip: The repeater shows the reception strength to the router with the upper left LED. If it turns red, the reception is poor. In this case, you should place the repeater closer to the router.
How to connect your devices to the repeater
You can easily connect your WLAN devices to the repeater.
- The name of the WiFi from the repeater is almost the same as that from your router WiFi. Only the addition "_2GEXT" and possibly "_5GEXT" are added at the end.
- To connect to it now, select the new WLAN with the addition at the end.
- Enter the same password that you use for your router.
- Tip: The upper right LED shows the connection to the devices connected via WLAN. If this is green, there is a good connection. If it is red, you should check the location of the repeater and change it if necessary.
