Repair power supply - is that possible?
If your power supply is defective, your PC will no longer be supplied with power. Repairing it is only possible or useful in very few cases. We will show you why and what alternatives you have in our practical tip.
Repair power supply - not recommended
If your power supply is defective, you often have no choice but to replace it. If you still have a guarantee, you should make use of it. If this is not the case, you have the following options:
- Attention: Due to the residual voltage in the power supply, it is very dangerous to open it. Apart from the acute risk of injury, defective parts in the power supply are very difficult to identify - even experts often find it difficult here. So our advice is: stay away from the inside of the power supply, unless you are an expert.
- Otherwise, your warranty claim will expire if you open the power supply.
- Let the expert also first make a price proposal. Usually a repair exceeds the purchase of a new power supply. These are not only relatively cheap, but - depending on the year of construction - usually more effective and energy-saving.
