Install a new projector lamp - you have to pay attention to that
If you want to install a new projector lamp, you have to pay attention to a few small things. Otherwise your new lamp may not last as long as you want it to. We'll show you what to look out for.
Install new projector lamp - the right setup
When installing the new lamp in your projector, you should take some precautions:
- Be sure to wear gloves while installing the lamp. Otherwise, leave traces of grease on the surface. These then cause the glass to expand differently at this point, which in turn means that the glass can crack sooner or later.
- Smoking in a projector room is actually an absolute no-go. Because the smoke clogs the air filters of your device, which leads to an increased operating temperature of the lamp and thus a lower life.
- Find out in the operating instructions about the maximum distance between your projector and walls. If the distance is too small, enough fresh air cannot be drawn in and the system including the lamp overheats. The same applies to the angle at which you place your projector. Some models do not tolerate being installed upside down or at a 90 ° angle.

Tips for the correct operation of the projector
In order for your new lamp to last as long as possible, it is best to note a few things during operation:
- Always switch your projector off using the remote control or the correct button on the device. Never simply press the power switch or pull the plug immediately after operation. Background: Most projectors cool the lamp about two minutes after you have switched off the device. If this does not happen, the life of your lamp will be shortened. The same applies to switching on and off too often. It is better to let the device run continuously for a longer time, because each new start is a new load on the components, such as the electrodes.
- With the Eco mode in your projector menu, you can easily achieve a thirty percent longer runtime. A lamp usually lasts between 1500 and 2000 hours in normal operation, and up to 3000 hours in Eco mode.
- A hot projector lamp is very fragile during operation. Avoid vibrations and ensure that your projector is standing securely.
