The iPhone 8 has been on the market for a few days and comes with a new key combination to force a restart. In the following, we will explain what this is and how you can restart it.
Force restart on iPhone 8 - keyboard shortcut
On the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, it was still possible to hold down the standby button simultaneously with the volume down button to force a restart.
- With this combination, the iPhone 8 tries to make an emergency call.
- The key combination [Standby] + [Home] does not lead to the desired effect.
- If your iPhone 8 has hung up and the solution does not work via the settings, "General" and then "Restart", you still have to restart using the key combination.
- You can do this by briefly pressing the [Volume Up] key, followed by a short press on the [Volume Down] key and holding down the [Standby] key for around eight seconds.
- If you press the [Standby] button briefly five times in succession, the Touch ID of the iPhone 8 is deactivated until the next passcode is entered and the emergency call screen including the emergency passport is displayed. This protects the data on your iPhone from access by unauthorized users.
