Nexus 5 Bootloop - how to fix the problem
If your Nexus 5 is stuck in the boot loop, this can usually be remedied using the recovery mode. In this practical tip, we will show you how to proceed to correct the error.
Nexus 5: end bootloop
In most cases, the boot loop is caused by a software bug. However, you should also check the power button. On some devices, this wobbles and sticks when you press it. As a result, the smartphone constantly restarts. If the power button is defective, you can have it replaced by a smartphone workshop. To troubleshoot a software problem:
- Put your Nexus 5 in recovery mode. To do this, keep both volume buttons and the power button pressed until the boot loader options appear. Then use the volume buttons to select "Recovery Mode" and confirm with the power button.
- Clear the cache of your smartphone: Select "Wipe dalvik-cache" and confirm with the power button. Then select the "Mounts & Storage" option and select "Wipe / cache". Then restart your Nexus.
- If that doesn't work, you will need to reset your Nexus to its factory settings. You can back up your data beforehand: Start recovery mode again and select "Backup & Restore"> "Backup" to back up your data to the SD card first.
- Reset your Nexus: In Recovery Mode, select "Mounts & Storage". Here you execute "Wipe / data" and "Wipe / cache". After a restart everything should work again.
- If the reset does not work, the internal memory is probably defective. In this case, only a repair in a smartphone workshop or a replacement under the warranty will help.
