When Google's latest smartphone, the Nexus 6, was introduced, some hidden functions were not disclosed. We'll show you what Google doesn't want to tell you about the Nexus 6.
Hidden LED in the Google Nexus 6
- There is an LED in the top left above the display, which the Nexus 6 does not use. All notifications are shown directly on the display, but the LED for red, blue and green light still exists.
- You can activate the LED with root rights and the Light Flow app. Why Google installed the LED despite the AMOLED display is unclear. If you hold the Nexus 6 against the light, you can see the recess for the LED.
Nexus 6: Google does not mention induction and the IP standard
- Google has left out another detail in the product description: The Nexus 6 is waterproof. As a rule, waterproof smartphones are certified with an IP standard, but Google has not done so.
- How waterproof the smartphone is, however, remains unclear. In several tests, the Nexus 6 survived a one-hour dive in the bathtub. It is better not to try out whether it can handle the pressure during deeper dives.
Nexus 6: State-of-the-art when charging the battery
- Wireless charging also works with the Nexus 6. Google did not mention this when it was introduced, but the technology is revealed on the Motorola website. For the Nexus 6 you need a charging station that supports the standard Qi.
- Good models are already available for less than 15 euros, such as the GMYLE Qi charger (price approx. 14 euros).
In the next practical tip, we will show you how the Google Nexus 6 performs compared to the Nexus 5.
