Nintendo 3DS: Create backup
Make a backup on your Nintendo 3DS to save your settings and saves. How to keep your data when you delete a game from the console.
Create a backup of scores and settings on the 3DS
To create a backup with the Nintendo 3DS, you need at least firmware version 6. You can then back up your data at any time:
- In the home menu, select the game you want to save and tap on it.
- Move the triangle icon from the bottom left to the right.
- If you then select the "Save-Data Backup" option, a backup for the game is created on the SD card.
- Note: Unfortunately, backup is not possible for some games. In this case you cannot move the symbol to the right.
Nintendo 3DS: Create backup when deleting
Alternatively, you can save your game data before deleting a game.
- Tap on the "System Settings" in the home menu and confirm the process with "Open".
- Choose Data Management> Nintendo 3DS> Software one at a time.
- Then select the game you want and tap the "Delete" button.
- Use the "Create storage data backup and delete software" option to create a backup of your data on the SD card and then delete the app.
