In order for the Nintendo 3DS to recognize the SD card, it must be formatted in the FAT32 file system. Even if the card is already in this file system, re-formatting can solve the problem. If there is data on the card, you should definitely save it before formatting. Here's how it works on Windows:
- Insert the SD card into your computer's memory card reader.
- Open Windows Explorer. This can be done, for example, by pressing "Windows key" + "E".
- Right-click on the SD card. In the context menu, select "Format ...".
- Make sure that "FAT32" is selected for the file system. Then click on "Start". The card is now formatted.
