Nintendo 3DS: Show firmware version - how it works
If you want to know whether your Nintendo 3DS is up to date, you should read out the firmware version. We show how this works in this practical tip.
Display the firmware version of the Nintendo 3DS
With each update, the firmware version of your Nintendo 3DS changes. You can therefore check exactly whether you are using the latest system version. You also need particularly low firmware for certain flash cards. How to read the version:
- Start your Nintendo 3DS and go to the main menu.
- There, tap on the settings icon with the screwdriver.
- As soon as the settings have loaded, you will find your exact firmware version on the upper screen in the lower right corner (e.g. Ver. 11.0.0-33E).
- The letter at the end indicates the geolocation of your Nintendo 3DS. For example, "E" stands for Europe, "U" for America, and "J" for Japan. Your actual firmware version is the numbers before it.
