Nintendo eShop: Top up your credit
To download software and games from Nintendo eShop, you first need to top up your credit. You can do this either with the Nintendo eShop Card or a credit card.
Top up credit with Nintendo eShop Card
With the Nintendo eShop Card you can top up your credit account by 15 euros, 25 euros or 50 euros. You can get the credit card at many different points of sale.
- To do this, start the Nintendo eShops on your Nintendo console and touch the "Add credit" icon in the main menu.
- From the Add Credit menu, choose Add Credit Using Nintendo eShop Card.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- If you previously purchased a Nintendo eShop Card, scratch the silver field on the back of the prepaid card to get the 16-digit activation code.
- Enter the activation code in the column required by the system. The credit will automatically be transferred to your Nintendo eShop Card.
Top up Nintendo credit with a credit card
You can also top up your Nintendo account with a credit card: You can choose between EUR 10, EUR 20 and EUR 30.
- Here too, touch the "Add credit" button in the main menu of the Nintendo eShop to top up your account.
- Select the "Add credit card credit" option and follow the on-screen instructions. Note that you can only expand your credit card credit with a MasterCard or Visa card.
- If you have followed the instructions on the screen, your credit account will increase by the corresponding amount during the day. You will also receive a receipt for your purchase.
So that your children cannot simply increase the balance, you should set up an age restriction on your console.
