Nintendo Switch: backward compatible for 3DS and Wii U games? All information
For a long time, Nintendo fans hoped that the Nintendo Switch could become backwards compatible with the 3DS or the Wii U. Nintendo itself has now commented on this.
Nintendo Switch: is the console backward compatible?
- The Nintendo Switch is said to be a standalone console. Backward compatibility with the Nintendo 3DS or the Wii U is therefore not planned.
- The Nintendo Switch no longer brings old cartridges or CDs to life. However, you do not have to completely write off old titles.
- It is quite conceivable that older titles will also land on the Nintendo Switch in the future. These would then be obtained from the Nintendo eShop. At the moment, however, this is pure speculation and probably still a long way off.
