Before you can get started with the new Nintendo Switch, you need to set up the console first. In this practical tip, we will show you how to do this.

- If you have unpacked the console, you should first insert the two controller units. Simply slide them from top to bottom until they snap into place automatically.
- Then turn on the Nintendo Switch by pressing the power button in the top right corner. The first step is to set the language.
- Then select your region (Europe) and confirm the user agreement by ticking "Accept".
- The console then automatically searches for nearby WLAN networks. Tap the name of your network and, if necessary, enter the network key to connect.
- Alternatively, you can skip this step first and do it later. After that, you need to set your time zone for the console.
- Now you can connect the Nintendo Switch to the TV. To do this, first press the "Release" button on the back of the console to remove the right controller.
- Select "Next" on the left controller and confirm with "A". You can now put the Nintendo Switch into the dock, you still have to connect it to the TV via HDMI and connect it to the mains.
- If the Nintendo Switch has been recognized, it will now be displayed on the TV and you can set nicknames and the appropriate avatar there, as well as set up parental controls. Then the setup is complete.
