Nintendo Wii hangs up - it can be because
If your Wii freezes, there can be various reasons. We have listed the most common problems and possible solutions for you here.
Nintendo Wii - white or black screen
If you suddenly get a white or black screen, for example when booting, there is probably a problem with the system and it needs to be repaired.
- In any problem, you should (if possible) do a firmware update first - this often works wonders.
- If that doesn't fix the problem, you can contact Nintendo customer service for advice.
- Such a system error is often a guarantee case, unless you have changed anything on the device.
Wii hangs up, picture is distorted
If the picture appears distorted, the console is often not set to the correct aspect ratio of your television.
- Then try to match the aspect ratio settings of the Wii console with those of your TV.
- Some games require a higher or lower resolution than the TV can display.
- But even here it can be a system error, which is a warranty case or can be remedied by a firmware update (see above).
Other sound and video problems with the Wii
In addition, a distinction must be made whether the sound and or video problems occur in the Wii and Mii menu or in the game.
- If the sound / video issues do not appear in the Wii menu or on the Mii channel, the game is likely scratched or broken. In such cases, you should check whether other games are also causing problems. If not, it's up to the game. If other games don't work properly, you should contact Nintendo Support.
- If the sound / video problems also or only occur in the Wii menu and on the Mii channel, there is probably a problem with the Wii console. Then you should contact Nintendo's customer service. Depending on the date of purchase and the problem, the guarantee becomes effective.
