Privacy and data protection - black out areas with Nitro PDF
The Adobe Acrobat alternative "Nitro PDF" enables you to black out sensitive areas in a document with little effort. The text sections are permanently removed and replaced by black blocks. To be able to use this feature, however, you need the paid full version for currently € 136.99.
- Open an existing PDF document in "Nitro PDF Reader".
- Click on the "Protect" tab. Now you will find a point "Mark content" on the top left with the sub-point "Mark for redaction". Select the area of the text you want to blacken. These can be pictures, individual words, but also paragraphs or entire pages.
- So far nothing has been completely blackened out, just marked. If you want to make several sections of the document unrecognizable, you can use this step several times.
- In order to permanently blacken the text, click on "Apply all darknesses", the marked places are removed. Caution! Blackening cannot be undone! However, they only become active when you save. If you accidentally blackened a spot, close the document without saving it.
