Nitro PDF: insert signature - how it works
There are four different ways to insert a signature into a PDF using Nitro. We introduce all of them and show you which one works the easiest.
1. Read in nitro signature via webcam
Nitro PDF allows you to photograph your signature using a webcam. It's quick and you don't need a scanner, but a webcam:
- Put your signature on a piece of paper, preferably with a black ballpoint pen.
- In Nitro PDF open the tab "Start"> "Tools"> "QuickSign"> "Create new signature".
- Now a window opens in which you have to click on "Webcam". Before you photograph your signature, be sure to click the "Password protection" button. Enter a password and check the box "Password required to use the signature". This is how you protect yourself against unauthorized use of your signature.
- Then hold your prepared signature in front of the webcam and click on "Record" in the preview window. Now confirm with "OK" to create your signature stamp.
- Place the stamp at the desired location in the document. The signature is set with a double click.
2. Create the signature using the keyboard
If you don't have a webcam or scanner, you can also create a signature using the keyboard. However, this is not your real hand and signature, so it is not really valid.
- To do this, activate the "Start" tab in Nitro PDF and click on "Create new signature under" Tools ">" QuickSign ".
- Now select "Handwritten" in the new window.
- If you enter your name in the upper field, it will appear in the script in the preview. You cannot change the font. It is also not a real signature that is suitable for forms, but at most for private letters.
- However, be sure to enter a password before clicking "OK". You can then place your "signature in the document.
3. Scan the signature and place it in the PDF
This method gives the best result. You need a scanner for this and load your signature as an image file in Nitro PDF:
- Put your signature on a white sheet of paper and make sure that the signature is legible and there is sufficient contrast.
- Scan your signature (not the whole sheet) and save it as an image file in JPEG, PNG, PDF, BMP, TIFF or GIF format.
- Go back to the "Start" tab in Nitro PDF and click on "Tools"> "QuickSign"> "Create new signature".
- In the new window, select "From file" and load the scanned signature as an image file. Don't forget password protection here, too.
- Then put your signature back where you want it in the PDF.
4. The Topaz signature pad as input
If you have a Topaz signature pad in your computer, you can also use this:
- Open "Tools"> "QuickSign"> "Create new signature". In the "Start" tab, the "Topaz" option is displayed if a Topaz device is installed.
- Now sign with the Topaz stylus. Think again of password protection and confirm with "OK".
- You can then put your signature back in the PDF.
The scanner and Topaz-Pad variants are best suited for forms. If you don't have one or the other, you should use the webcam to record your own signature. The keyboard method is not valid as a signature because it is not your handwriting. If you want to make some parts of the PDF unrecognizable, read how to black out areas in Nitro PDF.
