Nokia offers two well-equipped Windows phones, the Lumia 830 and the Lumia 930. In this article we show you how both devices compare. We also give an assessment of which device is suitable for which purposes.
Nokia Lumia 830 vs. 930: The visible differences
At first glance, the Nokia Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 look very similar. In detail, however, the first differences are already noticeable here:
- Case: The Nokia Lumia 830 measures 139.4 x 70.7 x 8.5 millimeters and weighs around 150 grams. The sister model 930 is a little wider and thicker at 137.0 x 71.0 x 9.8 millimeters. It also weighs a proud 167 grams.
- Display: Both smartphones use a 5.0 inch display. However, the Lumia 830 only has a resolution of 720 x 1, 280 pixels, while the Lumia 930 uses Full HD resolution (1, 080 x 1, 920 pixels). That makes a pixel density of 296 PPI for the Lumia 830 and 441 PPI for the Lumia 930.
- Battery and SIM card: You need a nano SIM for both Windows phones. The battery is built into both devices.
Nokia Lumia 830 vs. 930: The hardware in comparison
While the external differences are limited, the Lumia 930 excels in terms of hardware:
- Processor: Nokia uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with 1.20 GHz and four cores for the Lumia 830. That is enough for current apps and games. The Lumia 930 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 at 2.20 GHz is even faster.
- RAM: While the Lumia 830 only has 1 GB of RAM, the 930 has double the amount available.
- Storage: In terms of storage space, the Lumia 830 is superior to its successor. Although you only have 16 GB of internal memory here, you can expand it by up to 128 GB with a micro SD card. The Lumia 930, on the other hand, has 32 GB available, but it cannot be expanded.
- Camera: The camera of the Nokia Lumia 830 has a resolution of 10.0 megapixels and thanks to the LED flash also brightens up dark corners. If you thought that these were already great values, you should take a look at the Lumia 930 first: A whopping 20.0 megapixels and a dual LED flash ensure better pictures.
- Wireless: Both smartphones support LTE, NFC and WLAN n. The Lumia 930 also has an adapter for WLAN ac and Bluetooth 4.0.
Conclusion: Nokia Lumia 930 beats Lumia 830
It's a close race between the two Lumia smartphones. In the end, however, the Lumia 930 can prevail due to the significantly better hardware. Before buying, however, you should also consider the different prices.
