In this practical tip we show you the most important settings for the Firefox extension NoScript.
Firefox: The main settings for NoScript
If you want to try NoScript, you can find the add-on for free download at CHIP Online.
- After installing NoScript, you can open the extension settings via the add-on overview in Firefox.
- All the pages that execute scripts are listed under the "Permissions per website" tab, for example addons.mozilla.org. Here you can specify with a click of the mouse whether you trust the page or not.
- Under the "General" tab, you determine which content is to be blocked. With a tick you can choose among other script, media, frame or font.
- Experienced users can make some fine adjustments under the "Advanced" tab, for example to block click tracking via the ping attribute on trustworthy websites. As a rule, you do not need the advanced settings.
- If you are on a website, you can allow the execution of scripts for the current page by clicking on the NoScript symbol at the top right of the screen. You will also see a list of all blocked objects.
