Enter the note on the keyboard - how it works
With the right key combination, you can write eighth notes ♪ and double eighth notes ♫ on your keyboard. We'll tell you how to do it.
Write notes ♪ ♫ on the keyboard
You can only enter the two note characters ♪ ♫ on keyboards with a numeric keypad. This way works on both Windows and MacOS.
- To do this, hold down the [Alt] key. You will find it to the left of the spacebar.
- Then press the numbers 1 and 3 for the eighth note ♪ one after the other on the number pad on the right of the keyboard. For the double eighth note ♫ press the numbers 1 and 4 one after the other.
- Note: This procedure only works if the numeric keypad is activated. You can do this with the [Num] key above the number pad.
Copy and paste note characters
If you do not have a keyboard with a number pad, you can copy the symbol from other places.
- It is best to mark the eighth note ♪ or the double eighth note ♫ directly in your browser and copy it to your clipboard with the key combination [Ctrl] + [C]. You can then paste the symbol elsewhere with [Ctrl] + [V].
- Alternatively, you can use the character table. To do this, enter the "Character Map" command in the search field of the Start menu in Windows and open the application. Find the desired note symbol here and click on "Select" and "Copy". Now you can insert the characters again with [Ctrl] + [V].
