You should clean the keyboard of notebooks more often, since most germs and bacteria, as well as lint and crumbs, collect there. Also clean the case and screen from time to time.
Notebook: Clean the keyboard properly
Before you start cleaning, be sure to turn off the laptop and remove the battery if possible to protect yourself from possible electric shocks.
- Remove coarse crumbs and dirt by turning the notebook upside down and gently tapping on the back. Coarse dirt is already falling out.
- Use a dry cotton swab for the gaps.
- Remove coarse dirt with a slightly damp microfiber cloth.
- You can clean the keyboard with a vacuum cleaner at the lowest level. However, there is a risk that buttons will come loose and be sucked in by the vacuum cleaner.
Clean the laptop fan
Before you start cleaning the fan, be sure to remove the battery. If this is permanently installed, cleaning should be carried out by a specialist.
- First remove the lid of the notebook. For some types of laptops this is easier to do, for some it is more difficult.
- Then remove the battery and loosen all screws so that the lower cover of the notebook can also be removed.
- You can then remove the fan - if possible - or clean it directly with a dry cotton swab. Also make sure to clean the copper fins so that the air can flow again.
- Then reassemble the laptop.
Notebook: Clean the screen and housing properly
The screen of a laptop often shows the most signs of use in the form of fingerprints, dust and dirt stains. Switch the notebook off before cleaning.
- For cleaning, you should use a microfiber cloth and a TFT cleaner. Window cleaning products or other conventional means can leave streaks and are usually too sharp for screens.
- Spray the cloth with the TFT cleaner and carefully wipe the screen with it. Never spray the product directly onto the screen, otherwise liquid can run behind the display panel.
- When cleaning, do not put too much pressure on the surface to avoid damaging it.
- You can also wipe the case with a slightly damp microfiber cloth.
