Write notes in Word - how it works
You can easily write notes in Word, for example for music lessons, work analysis or reviews. Read here how it works.
Install the correct font for writing notes in Word
Although many symbols are represented in the international Unicode character encoding system, the corresponding character is stored in very few TrueType fonts. Common fonts, such as Arial, Calibri or Times New Roman, only issue a question mark when entering the "double-b sign" (Unicode position U + 1D12B). The Fughetta font helps here.
- Download the "Toccata and Fughetta" package for Windows.
- Open the "Fughetta.ttf" file contained in the ZIP file. A window with a text sample opens.
- Click the "Install" button located at the top of the window.
Write notes with Fughetta
After installation, the font is not only available in Microsoft Office, but also in every popular office program, such as Apache OpenOffice, IBM Lotus Symphony and Ragtime Privat.
- Open the Windows character table, for example by entering "charmap" in the search field in the start menu.
- Activate the "Fughetta" font in the upper field and click on the desired character in the table.
- Click "Select" and then "Copy". The character is now on the clipboard.
- Insert the character in Word using the key combination [Ctrl] + [v].
With Fughetta you have almost all clefs, grades and signs. You can find free grades to analyze and review here. To set and edit notes you need a notation program, such as MusScore or Finale NotePad 2012.
