Notepad ++: activate and deactivate syntax highlighting
With Syntax Highlighting, Notepad ++ has a useful tool that makes programming much clearer. The function can also be deactivated or configured. We'll show you how.
Activate and deactivate syntax highlighting in Notepad ++
- Start Notepad ++ on your computer.
- Go to the "Languages" option at the top of the tab.
- To deactivate the highlighting, move the mouse pointer over the letter "N".
- The item "Normal text" then appears in the menu.
- To reactivate, go back to "Languages" and select the programming language, the structure of which should be emphasized.
Notepad ++: Adjust the colors and backgrounds of the syntax highlighting
If you would like to use other colors for highlighting, you can also set this in Notepad ++.
- To do this, go to the "Settings" tab and from here continue to "Styles ...".
- There are already some templates for "Design". Among them for example "Deep Black" or "Hello Kitty".
- However, you can also use the left ribbon to define and adapt a separate color scheme for each language.
- With "Save" the new style is then adopted.
