Numbers: CSV import - how it works
Numbers makes it easy to import CSV files on Mac. CSV files are files that contain comma-separated values. Both the Numbers app for iOS and Numbers for Mac can open these files.
CSV import with Numbers for Mac
There are two ways to open CSV files with Numbers: Either via the context menu of the file or the "Open" function of Numbers.
- Right-click or [Ctrl] -click on the CSV file to open the context menu.
- Click on "Open with ..." and then on "Numbers".
- If Numbers is the only spreadsheet program installed, you can simply double-click the file.
- If you're already in the Numbers app, you can click "File" and then "Open" in the top left of the ribbon.
- Then you have to select the CSV file in the Finder and click "Open".
CSV import with Numbers for iOS
You can also open and edit CSV files with the iOS Numbers app from Apple.
- After starting the app, select the CSV file to be opened in the "Media library".
- If you want to open a file from another app, tap the share icon there.
- The share menu then opens. Select the Numbers app here.
- This works for example with a file in iCloud Drive or an attachment in Mail.
