How to use the iPad as a second monitor
There are iOS apps that allow you to use your iPad as a second PC monitor. Your tablet is connected to your computer or Mac via WiFi. Simply slide videos, pictures and other windows beyond your monitor edge, directly onto the iPad. We present three of these tools.
Air Display - the all-rounder app for the iPad
If you have iOS 6.0 or higher installed on your iPad, then use AirDisplay 2.
- A big advantage of this app over others is that both Windows and Mac users can extend the monitor to the Apple device.
- In addition to the iPad, the iPhone is also supported. In order to be able to set up the second monitor, you must first download the additional software from the manufacturer's website on your PC or Mac.
- However, the price for the second monitor app is lucky: you have to pay an impressive 9.99 euros here.
DisplayPad - the cheaper second monitor alternative for the Mac
If you don't want to spend that much money, you can use DisplayPad as a Mac user.
- The app only costs 2.99 euros and comes with similar features on your iPad.
- However, you have to do without Windows and iPhone support. Air Display and DisplayPad are the same in all other respects.
iDisplay - second monitor app in the mid-range price range
For iDisplay you also have to spend 9.99 euros to expand your Mac or PC monitor.
- Again, you have to install a download tool on PC or Mac, which you can download here.
- Big advantage: You are not limited to the iPad - all iOS and (for around 4 euros) also Android devices are supported.
