Nvidia Audio Driver - Do You Need It?
In this practical tip, we clarify whether you need an Nvidia audio driver for your system or whether the software is unnecessary.
Nvidia Audio Driver - Required?
- The Nvidia audio driver is used for all devices that you have connected to the graphics card using an HDMI cable. If your screen has its own speakers, HD audio output is started when you watch movies or play games, for example.
- However, if you have not connected an HDMI-capable device, you can consider uninstalling the driver, as it will then no longer function.
- Please note: The system output, i.e. any output of the system (music, system sounds, etc.) does not run on the graphics card. The PC has its own sound card for this.
- Conclusion: If you have connected a monitor via HDMI and this speaker has, you can install the audio driver. If not, you don't need an Nvidia audio driver.
- Note: You can download the current driver for 32- or 64-bit from our website. To install the HD audio driver, select "User-defined" and then check "HD audio driver".
