Okay Google: the most important voice commands
With the "Okay Google" command, you can initiate voice commands in the Google app or Android using Google Now. We will show you the most important features of voice control below.
Okay Google: surfing, weather and Co
- Google can access websites for you by voice command. An example: "Go to Chip.de"
- With Okay Google you can also look into the future - at least regarding the weather. Ask "How will the weather be tomorrow", you will get a detailed weather forecast.
- Google also converts currencies for you by voice command. For example, just say, "How much is a euro in dollars?"
- If mental arithmetic is not your strength, ask Okay Google: For example, if you say "How much is 29 plus 43", you will get the result promptly.
- You no longer need to trigger the camera by hand. The "take a photo" command does that for you. With the command "show pictures from" you can start a targeted picture search.
- With "Play some music" Okay plays Google songs from your playlist.
- On Android you can also send SMS and emails by voice command. This works with the command "SMS on". You can then dictate a message to Google. This is exactly how it works with "Email to".
- You can also ask general questions such as "Who won Oscar" or "What does ..." mean to Okay Google.
Voice commands with "Okay Google": appointments and navigation
You initiate each of the commands listed below with the prompt "Okay Google". Once you say "Okay Google", Google Now will take your command.
- You can automatically set an alarm clock with a voice command. Just say "set an alarm for 30 minutes" or "remember tomorrow at 4pm".
- You can also have appointments created in your calendar. For example: "Make an appointment for Wednesday 6pm: dinner".
- With the voice command "show me the map of" you can quickly find places on Google Maps.
- It is just as easy to have routes calculated directly. To do this, use the voice command "show me the route".
- On Android you can not only calculate the route with the "navigate to" command, but you can also start the navigation directly.
Please note that not all of the commands mentioned also work on your device. Many commands are reserved primarily for Android users. We'll show iOS users the five most important commands for Siri elsewhere.
