Photographing classic cars - the best tips
In this practical photo tip, we will show you how to put your classic car in the best possible light.
Photographing vintage cars - value small details
Forget the long shot and focus on details. Every classic car has its own peculiarities, which need to be staged correctly.
- Concentrate on wheel hubs, speedometers, gear sticks, headlights and door locks, for example.
- The hood ornament also makes a classic car unique.
The right setting for classic car close-ups
35mm focal lengths around 50 millimeters are well suited for close-ups because they convey a picture impression similar to that captured by the human eye. Strong distortions, typical of wide-angle lenses, do not occur.
Play with the depth of field
Try to play deliberately with the depth of field. This allows you to draw the viewer's attention to the desired detail. Striking motifs are also worth taking a picture: when viewed up close, folds and door edges, fenders and tires come together to form an almost surreal painting. The car itself takes a back seat.
