OneDrive is Microsoft's popular cloud service that backs up your files so you can access them from anywhere. In a few steps you can install OneDrive on any operating system to use the service.
Reinstall OneDrive: Instructions on all devices
OneDrive is available for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS smartphones and as a web application. How to proceed if you have not yet installed OneDrive on the device:
- Download OneDrive to your device. Then run the installation file (for smartphones, open the app).
- Sign in to the device using your Microsoft account.
- If you do not have an account yet, you must first create a Microsoft account. This is of course free of charge.
- Now you can determine which data should be synchronized and much more.
Set up OneDrive again
If you only get error messages when using OneDrive, it often helps to set up the program again:
- Uninstall OneDrive on the device in question. All you have to do is uninstall the app on your smartphone, Windows is a little more complicated.
- Open the settings of your PC, select "Apps", search for OneDrive and uninstall the application.
- Press the [Windows] + [R] keys, enter "gpedit.msc" in the field that appears and confirm the search.
- In the folder structure, open "Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, OneDrive".
- Double-click on the right "Prevent using OneDrive for data storage", select "Enabled" and confirm it.
- Open the command prompt with administrator rights.
- Type "taskkill / f / in OneDrive.exe" and then for a 64-bit version "% SystemRoot% \ SysWOW64 \ OneDriveSetup.exe / uninstall" and for a 32-bit version "% SystemRoot% \ System32 \ OneDriveSetup .exe / uninstall ".
- Now you can reinstall and set up OneDrive as described above.
