If the content of a table cell is too long, it extends beyond this cell border. To prevent this, you can insert a line break. Here we explain how to insert such a line break in Open Office Calc.
Activate the automatic line break in Open Office Calc
If automatic line break is activated, the cursor automatically jumps to the next line at the edge of the cell. To activate it, proceed as follows:
- Select the relevant cell (s) and click on the right.
- Then select "Format cells".
- Now click on the "Alignment" tab.
- Place a checkmark next to "Automatic line break" and click OK to apply the changes
Insert a manual line break in Open Office Calc
The automatic line break changes the line at the edge of the cell. To insert a line break manually, you have to do the following:
- Place the cursor where you want the line break to occur
- Press the Ctrl and Enter keys to insert a line break
