Open Office: How do I insert a video in Impress?
In a presentation created in OpenOffice Impress, it is often helpful to underline the presentation with a video. You don't have to leave the presentation to do this, because Impress supports inserting videos directly into a slide. If you then call up the corresponding page, the inserted video starts automatically.
- Select the "Insert" menu in the menu bar and then "Film and Sound".
- Find the video you want, select it and click "Open". A placeholder for your video appears on the current slide.
- Zoom in or out on the four corners and edges of the rectangle, as you are used to with photos, as you like. If the video is larger than the slide, it will still be shown completely in the slide show.
Note: If you are holding your presentation on a third-party PC, it is advisable to take the video and the portable VLC media player with you on an external storage device. It is quite possible that the video cannot be played on a foreign PC if the format is not supported. The portable VLC media player is available here.
