OpenOffice Calc: chaining cells - how it works
You can concatenate cells in OpenOffice Calc and thus display the concatenated content in another cell. We explain how it works.
Concatenate cells in OpenOffice Calc - connect names, for example
Open OpenOffice Calc and create your cell contents. For example, you can enter a first name in one cell and a last name in another cell. To display the full name in another cell, you should chain the cells. Here's how:
- Click in the cell where you want the linked content to appear.
- Now enter "= CHAINING (cell1;" "; cell2)" in the formula field.
- Instead of "Cell1" or "Cell2" enter the respective cell name, eg A3 or B8. Note the space between the cell names.
