OpenOffice: insert header and footer - how it works
In this practical tip, we explain how to insert a header and footer in OpenOffice.
Insert header and footer via the menu bar in OpenOffice
Headers and footers improve orientation and navigation in larger text documents.
- Open OpenOffice and then click on "Insert" in the menu bar.
- To insert a header, click on "Header" and then on "Standard". You can then label the header in the document.
- If you want to insert a footer, go to "Insert" and select "Footer" and "Standard".
- The footer is added to the document. You can now enter a text there.
- Three tabs (left, center and right justified) help you to correctly align the text of the footer or header. You can move the tabs within the rulers in the document. Alternatively, right-click on the relevant line and select "Paragraph" and "Tabulator".
- To better separate the header and footer from the main text, right-click in the document and select Paragraph. Here you can set a line with the desired thickness for separation under the "Outline" tab.
