OpenOffice Spell Checker: Enable multiple languages
In this practical tip, we will show you how to activate multiple languages in the OpenOffice spell checker.
OpenOffice: Check and install languages
Before you make the settings, first check which languages are installed in OpenOffice:
- Open OpenOffice and click on "Settings".
- Select "Extension Manager" from the menu. Here you have a list of all available languages.
- If the desired language is not included, download it here.
- Install it by clicking on "Add". Then select the file to install.
Enable multiple languages for the OpenOffice spell checker
- Select the desired text in the "Writer" word processor. Click on "Tools" and select "Language".
- To assign a language to the selected text, select "For selection" and finally "More".
- You can now select the desired language in the "Language" menu.
- If you want to check the entire text in another language, select the "For all text" option under "Language". Alternatively, you can only set a specific paragraph. This is also possible under the "For paragraph" setting in the "Language" menu.
