OpenOffice: Setting up the sidebar - the best tips
With the introduction of the sidebar, OpenOffice moved many functions to the right edge. In this practical tip, we explain how you can best set up the bar.
Set up sidebar - tips for OpenOffice
- Undock: If you click on the symbol above the sidebar, you can also "undock" the bar and move it anywhere on the screen. This is particularly useful when you are working on multiple monitors.
- Distribute functions: The most effective way to use the sidebar is to open all functions at the same time. The format toolbar is located above the document by default. Now open the format templates in a separate window with [F11] and select the gallery function in the sidebar. This way you have all functions at hand.
- Close the bar: As soon as you click on an icon in the sidebar, the corresponding menu opens. To hide it again, click on the small X symbol at the top right.
- Hide functions: If you do not want to use some functions of the sidebar, you can also hide the corresponding icon. To do this, click on the small icon above the sidebar, select "Customize" and remove the check mark.
- In principle, you can also use all functions of the sidebar via the bar above the document. If you do not need the sidebar, you can hide it via "View"> "Sidebar".
