OpenOffice: Freeze columns and rows
In this practical tip you will learn how to fix columns and rows in OpenOffice.
How to freeze columns and rows in OpenOffice
The OpenOffice fix function is particularly useful on Microsoft and Mac OS if you have tables with multiple data columns or rows of data. The function helps you to keep an eye on the desired rows and columns when scrolling long tables:
- For example, if you want to fix column A, you have to put the cell pointer in column B. If you want to fix row 1, you have to set the cell pointer in row 2 (see picture). Depending on your selection, all columns and above all rows are fixed on the left.
- To activate the fixing function, click on the "Window" command and then on the "Fix" option (see picture). You can use the same processing step to deactivate the fixing function.
- You can use the "Split" option in the "Window" command to make the fixed area scrollable. Here, too, you can cancel the function using the same procedure.
