OpenOffice: Change spell check language
If you want to use the spell checker for a text in a foreign language in OpenOffice, you must first make a few small settings and change the spell checker language manually. We show how it works.
OpenOffice: Change the spellcheck language manually
- Open OpenOffice. The bottom line shows the current setting for the spell check in the middle. By default, this should be set to "German (Germany)".
- To be able to select other languages, you first have to activate them via the settings. To do this, go to "Tools"> "Settings ..." at the top.
- Navigate to "Language Settings"> "Language".
- At the "Locale" item, select the desired foreign language for the spell check and then click "OK".
- Click on the language display described in point one in the lower line and select the appropriate foreign language.
