Set up OpenVPN under iOS - how it works
You can set up OpenVPN on iOS in just a few simple steps. In this practical tip guide, we show you exactly how to do this.
Set up OpenVPN on iOS - you have to do that
- First download the OpenVPN app on your iOS.
- Now you need the files "ca.crt", "user1.crt", "user1.key" and "ta.key", which you can find in the server directory of OpenVPN.
- Then copy the "client.conf" from this page.
- Copy this into the editor and save the file under "client.conf". Select "All files" under "File type".
- Then change the following lines in the document as follows: "bash # The hostname / IP and port of the server. # You can have multiple remote entries # to load balance between the servers. Remote myserver.de 1194", "bash # SSL / TLS parms. # See the server config file for more # description. It's best to use # a separate .crt / .key file pair # for each client. A single ca # file can be used for all clients. Ca ca .crt cert client.crt key client.key "and" auth key is used on the server # then every client must also have the key. tls-auth ta.key 1 ". Save the changes.
- Then right click on the file and change the extension "conf" to "ovpn". The file should now be called "client.ovpn".
- Now connect your smartphone to the PC and open iTunes. Click on "Apps" there as soon as the mobile phone is recognized.
- Scroll down a bit until you see "OpenVPN".
- Drag and drop the files mentioned above into the entry to OpenVPN so that the files are transferred.
- You can then start an OpenVPN connection via the app.
